Morning Runs

My next hurdle is sleeping through the night when I plan to wake up the next morning for an early morning run! Last night, I decided to run in the morning and I tossed and turned ALL. NIGHT. LONG. This happened the last time too! Ugh! The good news: I ran 2 straight miles and, had I gotten out of bed a little earlier, I could have ran forever!!!!!! I felt great and it was the perfect start for my day! I will try this again tonight, but THIS time, I WILL sleep! Wish me luck!!!!!!

Encouraging others

My twin sister and I were chatting about working out and she said that she and her workout partner are considering building up on running. I mentioned the C25K, which is how my son and I started running and she didn't sound too excited about it. She said they do it their way, which is cool! The next day I asked her how their first run went and she said great! She went on to explain how they ran and walked in intervals. Then it occurred to me! They should sign up for the same virtual 5k I signed up for on Mother's Day! She loved the idea because they can sign up for a race without the pressure of a group run! I LOVE that my sister is going to run a race! Now I just have to convince my boyfriend and son! Not for this one, though! This one is for the girls!

Running Therapy

They say running is better than therapy, so with that in mind, after a long, emotionally draining day, I decided I needed a run Thursday night. I got on the treadmill and started up the machine. Thinking I shouldn't push myself, I ran a little slower than last time and, because of a time restraint, I only got to run one and a quarter mile, but I discovered that running is definitely a great way to deal with stress and I came out of it feeling a whole lot better!

An Early Morning Run

Sunday night, I decided that I wanted to wake up bright and early the next morning to get a run in. I put on a pair of running shorts and a sports bra and a tank top to sleep in, so I can wake up ready to go! I was pumped! I set my alarm for 5 am and couldn't wait!
Monday morning, I woke up before the alarm had a chance to startle me awake. I was up and ready to go! Then, I realized that Monday's are weigh in day...Big mistake. I had a pretty heavy weekend, filled with fried food and wine an a girl's shopping trip in Buffalo. Stepping on the scale was my first mistake. Up 5.5 lbs. I was bummed!!!!! Trying not to get discouraged, I put my hair up in a ponytail, stuffed my feet into my running socks and shoes and headed for the treadmill, which is in the office. Trying to stay motivated, I decided to run a little faster than the last time. I was too ambitious. I was struggling to  run a quarter mile, definitely feeling the effects of the previous weekend. So I ran a quarter mile and then rested, and then ran a quarter mile, then rested, logging in a total of a mile and a half. Feeling like a complete failure, I hit the shower. Better luck next time!

Working back up

This blog is being started, inspired by a great group called Moms Run This Town! They have set monthly challenges to help motivate those like me who need the extra push! This month's challenges include starting a running blog! What a great way to keep me accountable! They also have some great prizes!

After a two month hiatus, I jumped back on the treadmill, in hopes of running the same three miles I did with my last run. After the slowest two miles of my life, I remembered as I huffed and puffed that running is not exactly like riding a bike and you have to work your way up. Although I have been doing P90X for the past 3 weeks and I feel like I am in okay shape, every exercise is different. Running is my favorite to do, so I will be patient with myself and I will achieve my goals to run faster and further!
